Pinned toot

Dear followers, will you fund me? (relevant fact: the author is a student without a job.)

1. pip install memethesis==2.0.0
2. memethesis -i
3. :hacker_p::hacker_r::hacker_o::hacker_f::hacker_i::hacker_t: !

You can now use the more meme-ish Impact font with memethesis.

Usage:
set: font impact
(case insensitive; overrides `mono` and `lang`)

it is advised tho, that you should NOT use impact with loads of text as it won't look really good.

Although cryptographically I can't tell it's actually you or an imposter from the email address, it doesn't hurt if I say thanks! @BadAtNames

Enjoying memethesis? Directly support its author by tipping him here: liberapay.com/fakefred/donate . The money will be used to make more good things and less severely cursed things.

Alternatively, you can implement a new meme format in the bot's repo: github.com/fakefred/memethesis . Contact me if you're interested. (It's actually pretty easy especially if you're comfortable with python.)

Thank you for any form of support.

TL;DR:
"set:" for params instead of "set", difference is the colon

Usage change (Important):
to give arguments to memethesis, you would write a line like "set lang zh, flip, mono" before. Now, the "set" has been replaced with "set:" with an extra colon, to avoid future ambiguity should multiline support be regained.

🔨 server side shutting down for new feature testing. Unstable.

BEHAVIOR CHANGE: it is now necessary to put :drake_dislike: and :drake_like: at the beginning of a line. This means you cannot put @memethesis before :drake_dislike: . On the plus side, you can now build drake skyscrapers. Also :drake_dislike: doesn't need to come before :drake_like: .

[WARNING] This bot's author is considering rewriting the meme type classification part. As a result, the behavior could change dramatically. On the plus side, new formats are coming.

Also the author will prob ballmer peak at dinner.

Maintainer speaking.

TL;DR: rate limit introduced. 10 memes per 5 min.

Last night, I sensed terror from the very existence of bots like @UwUTranslator. My bot could get trapped into an infinite loop and keep on memethesizing until banned.

However tonight, I implemented a rate limit. Result? You can't request for >10 memes in an arbitrary 5-minute window, or you'll receive a rejection. If you want them anyway, delete and redraft in 5 minutes.

Contact me to suggest a better limit than 10/5.

Known problems:
Unicode emoji isn't supported (yet).
The rendering process for texts with emojo is different from that of those without. That said, unexpected behavior may occur! Report such incident to me via the fediverse or github issues.

I'm the author of memethesis: @fakefred

I'm excited to announce that a shiny new feature has been rolled out today, and that is EMOJO SUPPORT!

Take off from the taxiway of plaintext. If you're a shitposter, you can now reach a new level by throwing emojo mercilessly. Else, you can illustrate your meme better with some lil pictograms.

Use whatever custom emoji on your instance. Remember, *your* instance.
