From past experience, it's better to stop keeping up with friends that you don't get anymore remember them as they were, and say hi when you run into them IRL than it is to *constantly* absorb information that makes you view them as terrible, justified or no. Unfollowing: Better for all parties.

@deathmtn I have this old high school friend who is a failure at humblebragging and therefore comes off as the smuggest person ever on Facebook. The few times I've seen him in person in the past few years, he's normal and as I remembered him. But his online persona is just so different. Is that his "highlights reel" presentation of himself or does it represent his fundamental self-image? Hard to tell. I've been told I write like I sound...

@bradamant I fear that online personas are representative of inner dialogue, but in a way, if they are decent every time they interact with you IRL, does it matter?

Wait, I guess it does, but mostly for matters of character and personal trust, not sharing experiences.
