I am happy to reveal that a non-profit legal entity for Mastodon, Mastodon gGmbH, is in the process of being entered into the German company register.

For context, I have been operating as a sole proprietor so far.

It's been in the works for 8 months but I didn't want to announce anything until everything was finalized just in case it didn't work out. Yesterday, I paid in the starting capital.

It wouldn't be possible without the help and advice of @mellifluousbox. More to follow in blog form.

Y'know, the #nobot convention is the wrong way to do it. It allows bot followers unless actively prohibited.

It should really be #yesbot--that is, bots are not allowed to follow unless you EXPLICITLY allow them.

Privacy should always be the default.

@pagrus I found it charming how the early Twitter bots would @ people unsolicited with random goofy things. I kind of want there to be a #yesbot tag here to opt in to stuff like that... but it seems like that would mostly just encourage all the scraper bots :drake_dislike:

Here's me trying to create participation. 'Your Instant Online Learning Community' slides, audio and video. downes.ca/presentation/545
